12 Appliance
A 12 appliance (pronounced as 'one - two appliance') carries approximately 1000 litres of water and is a two wheel drive vehicle. There is only one of these 12 appliances left in service in the CFS, which is a twin cab vehicle. The 12 appliances have been replaced by more adaptive 4WD versions as they are phased out of service. A 12 appliance can be used in flat to undulating terrain, for combating grass & scrub fires, car fires, and other types of incidents, although it is well suited to urban type tasks.
