Air Support Vehicles
Providing support to the Aerial Bomber fleet

The CFS now utilise a fleet of contract Aerial bombers for the fire season, and as such, require a fast deployment of resources to airfields to facilitate refilling of water, retardant and foam into the bombers.

Some airstrips are set up with all of the required equipment, while others are set up in areas remote to facilities, and hence require all equipment, including water supply, to be brought in.  For this reason, a Bulk Water Carrier (Tanker) often accompanies Air support vehicles.

An assortment of mixing plants and floating collar dams are often taken with bulk quantities of foam or retardant to be mixed on site.

Some of the Air support appliances are utilised outside the fire danger season as a logistic appliances and can perform other roles, other than air support.
