The Catering unit provides food as required to the fireground for firefighters, and to other support units involved in the incident.

The local community comes to the fore during a large incident, and with the coordination from the Catering Unit, will provide meals and snacks to the crews involved in an incident. It always seems to be the call to an incident is just before normal mealtimes. Many meals and snacks are provided by individual brigades, community groups and other Emergency services. The food is often donated to the community from businesses involved in the incident or from businesses and companies willing to assist in times of need to keep the firefighters fed and watered.

The Salvation Army Emergency Services provide catering support to many incidents, with a large catering truck, catering trailers, mobile coolroom and freezers along with generators provide meals to firefighters at all hours of the day.
