A Command vehicle is used at incidents to provide a Control and Command point for the Officer in Charge, Sector Commander or Strike Team Leader.

Generally, command vehicles are 4 wheel drive, and do not carry any water for firefighting, although there are some command vehicles that carry small amounts of water for firefighting purposes.

Command vehicles carry a range of equipment, used in the planning and coordination of a wide range of incidents.

Equipment carried in a Command vehicle may include:

  • GRN radios
  • VHF radios
  • Mobile phones
  • Extensive maps
  • GPS unit
  • Portable weather Stations
  • First Aid Kit
  • Safety vests
  • Extinguisher
Please Note: The above information is provided as an example of a typical appliance of this type. Actual equipment and configuration of appliances may vary to suit requirements of the station to which it belongs.
