Old Rendelsham appliance back to CFS

Submitted By Pip

The old Rendelsham 34 appliance was this month donated to the
the SA Volunteer Firefighters Museum, based at Naracoorte.

The Rendelsham appliance, a petrol driven, 1971 Bedford MFR2B 4 x4, was built by PA Wotton at Uraidla, and delivered to the brigade in 1971.

The appliance remained in service with the Rendelsham brigade, until 1991, when it was replaced with another appliance.

The Bedford was sold at a Millicent Council auction, and purchased by the Gilbertson Family. The pump & sides were removed, and the truck used on the Gilbertson family farm.

The Gilbertson family donated the appliance to the Museum earlier this month.

Members of the Rendelsham CFS welded the original sides back on the truck, as well as putting the original pump back on.

Further restoration work will be carried out on the appliance, including sign writing.
