The workshops on Sunday at the Fire Service Training Centre, Brukunga had been set, with 17 topics to choose from - but participants could only get to do four!

Breakfast, Lunch and morning and afternoon teas were provided by the staff at the Training Centre, and the Dinner spread was provided by the Committee of the Conference.
ROAD ACCIDENT RESCUE 
  (RCR).
  Learn about Road Accident Rescue tools. Have an opportunity to use the tools 
  safely. Interactive workshop that requires Personal protective Equipment to 
  be worn.
FIRE INVESTIGATION 
  / BURNS TREATMENT.
  David McGowan RAH Fire Officer and Shelia Cavanagh RAH Burns Unit have put together 
  a combined package investigating burns and the new treatments available. Upgrade 
  your First Aid knowledge for burn's treatment and learn about how burns assist 
  the fire investigator.
COMMUNICATIONS PRACTICE
  Ever wondered who says what, when and why? Kelly and Julie will lead 
  you through the practical side of radio communications. Check out the GRN radios 
  and the Region 1 Communications vehicle. Learn practical ways of managing fire 
  information at stations and Group Bases.
PUMPS 
  Mark and Kathy are experts when it comes to moving water. This workshop is designed 
  to give you an opportunity to learn the basics right through to drafting and 
  relay pumping. No matter what your expertise, it will give you confidence in 
  working the pumps. Personal Protective Equipment required.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION
  Michael McGregor has worked with the CFS for a number of years providing Brigades 
  and Groups with personnel management skills. Michael's workshop is designed 
  to help develop skills that can be used in any situation. Great personal development 
  workshop.
MEETING PROTOCOL 
  Ever been to a meeting and couldn't get a word in? Ever wondered why it's after 
  11pm and the meeting is still going? Alwyn Probert will explain the reason for 
  meeting rules. Good meetings save time and effort and everyone will benefit 
  from a well run meeting.
AIIMS - LOGISTICS
  What is a Logistic Officers role, where do they fit in the AIIMS team.
  Preplanning and the benefits to your Brigade and Group. Narelle and Leanne will 
  guide you through the maze that is logistics with some helpful hints and ideas 
  that you can use in your Brigade
APPLIANCE DRIVING
  Maneuvering and reversing a CFS 24 takes special skills and this workshop is 
  designed to give you an opportunity to learn and practice the techniques. Steve, 
  George and Phil will give you confidence to drive and reverse an appliance safely. 
  A MR license or learners permit is required for this workshop.
FOUR WHEEL DRIVING 
  Four Wheel Driving is a skill in itself - one that we don't practice very often. 
  This session outlines the principles of four wheel driving and gives you an 
  opportunity to drive a four wheel drive. A current car licence is required

  BASIC APPLIANCE KNOWLEDGE
  Ever wondered what's going on underneath, ever changed an appliance tyre? Know 
  how to tilt the cab? Sandy and Liam will give you a guided tour of what makes 
  the appliance tick or rattle or clunk. Interactive workshop that requires Personal 
  Protective Equipment.
RECRUITMENT 
  Numbers down, current methods a bit hit and miss? What's available to get you 
  started? Develop long term strategies to encourage participation in all areas 
  of the CFS and SES. Adaire and Rita have some novel effective recruiting ideas 
  for your Brigades and Units.
SAFE FOOD HANDLING 
  Don Chapman, who has a wealth of expertise in food handling, has some good ideas 
  when it comes to the welfare of the crews. Feeding small or large numbers requires 
  planning and an understanding of the standards that must be maintained.
BREATHING APPARATUS 
  Ever wondered what it would be like to wear a BA set? Not sure if you could? 
  Here is an opportunity to find out. This session allows you to wear a set in 
  a very empathetic environment. This workshop is hands on and requires Personal 
  Protective Equipment to be worn.
STRESS PREVENTION MANAGEMENT / 
  FAMILY SUPPORT
  CFS and SES have many support services available to brigade and unit members. 
  Come and learn what's available and how to get involved. Learn how to recognise 
  and manage stress in yourself and others.
LAND SEARCH
  Won't teach you to find your keys at home but this workshop will teach you the 
  principles of effective land search.
IMPACT - REACT
  First on scene at an accident - what do you do? Roger's session includes casualty 
  management and incident management. Developed in consultation with the SA Ambulance 
  Service
MAP READING
  Never get lost again! Come and learn how to read a map and discover the enormous 
  amount of information that can be found on maps. Workshop includes common symbols 
  used by the CFS and what they mean.

The workshops are designed to give you an opportunity to try or learn some new skills. While they won't provide you with a qualification we encourage you to follow up on those you enjoyed trying in your brigade or unit.
Personal Protective Equipment consists of - Helmet, Overalls or Two piece CFS or SES uniform, Boots and Gloves
