Tarnma Brigade - 1946 to 1988

Fire protection for Tarnma began in 1946, when the ex Marrabel Ajax hand pump and six 44 gallon drums were set up by the home of Mr R Pfitzner.

In 1954 the ex Marrabel Cooper FFU replaced the Ajax pump.

In 1966 the District Council of Saddleworth approached the District Council of Eudunda about stationing a mobile fire unit near the border of the two Councils, to which Eudunda agreed.

A 1942 Ford appliance, ex Marrabel was purchased in 1973 and was housed in Mr MM Priers garage on the main Eudunda-Marrabel road.

The Tarnma Subunit was part of the Eudunda CFS. The unit disbanded in 1988.
