A Zone Emergency Coordination Centre (ZECC) exists in most Groups of brigades to provide a point where representatives from involved agencies can get together in a large incident to plan and assist the brigades in dealing with the incident.

These agencies may include the SA Police (SAPol), State Emergency Service (SES), Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS), Electricity Trust of SA (ETSA), Councils and other areas of specialist groups such as Forestry SA and National Parks.

An Operations room is normally set up ready to go with all communications equipment, desks and all paperwork required, at hand.

When large fires or flooding occur, communications between agencies is crucial in ensuring that all parties understand the 'battle plan' and plan a coordinated effort.
