Natural Disasters
Flooding and Storm Damage

Floods

The CFS is often involved in dealing with storm and flood damage - anything from trees down across roads or buildings, roofs blown off, or flooding. Due to the nature of storms, large areas of the state are often affected simultaneously.

Large numbers of CFS brigades can be called out to deal with flooding or storm damage, along with other agencies, including the State Emergency Service (SES), Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) Departmnet of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure SA (DPTI) and Local Councils.

Many CFS brigades carry equipment to deal with floods and storm damage, including chainsaws, salvage sheets, emergency lighting and sandbags.
