Rope and Vertical Rescue
Rescue from heights at the end of a line

CFS brigades across the state are responsible for 'rope rescues', which is any incident requiring specialist climbing and rescue tools. The brigades will respond to areas such as cliffs, wells and caves and in some areas, multi storey complexes.

CFS brigades are often called to assist other agencies, such as the Police, Ambulance or the State Emergency Service. They will provide rope rescue equipment, and personnel to effect a successful conclusion of an incident.

A number of CFS brigades are specially trained in rope rescue techniques and the use of equipment such as rescue stretchers and harnesses.
