Mt Lofty Tower brigade - new members wanted

The Mount Lofty Tower brigade's office stands 34 metres above Mount Lofty - with a spectacular view.

During the Fire Danger season, crews staff the tower, scan the countryside for signs of smoke, and using high tech equipment to identify a location, and report the sighting, so that fire crews can be dispatched.

The Mount Lofty Fire Tower is currently seeking new members for the upcoming fire season. You dont need any experience, but you must be able to climb the stairs to the top of the tower, not have a fear of heights, and be willing to work as part of a team.

Crewing in the tower is two people per shift, with shifts running for 4 hours, generally commencing 12 noon. The tower is crewed 7 days a week, when weather conditions require.

Training courses are being held regularly during the fire danger season

If you are interested in being part of the Tower brigade, or would like to know more, register with the Captain, David McGowan on
