On Tuesday 11th January 2005, in extreme fire weather conditions, a fire ripped through the Eyre Peninsula, claiming nine lives, numerous house, sheds, farm equipment and stock.

Hundreds of CFS Volunteers responded to the call for assistance, but faced horrendous weather conditions, including 43 degree temperatures, 3% humidity, and winds of over 55 km/hr, gusting to over 70 km/hr.

Photographs from those fires are now available, by clicking on the Photo menu to the left.
