Over 300 people attended the Ash Wednesday Memorial Service at Mt Lofty Summit, on 16th February. Current CFS volunteers stood around the outside of the suummit, symbolising the volunteers proteting the community from the environment.

11 CFS volunteers stood on the steps of the adjacent Fire Tower, representing the 11 CFS volunteers killed while serving the CFS and the Community. As each name was read out, a volunteer on the Tower steps placed a helmet on, and turned their back to the summit. A lone piper could be heard on the breeze.
