Royal Adelaide Show Display 2009

The CFS were again in attendance at the Royal Adelaide Show, located at the Wayville Showgrounds. We took part of the SAFECOM display, which consisted of the CFS, SES and the Volunteer Strategy & Support (VSS) of SAFECOM. The CFS display concentrated on the 'Come and Join Us' message, with the SES giving information on the 'Flood Watch' program released this year, and the VSS promoting the volunteers in the two services. SAFECOM provided facilities for the volunteers including refreshments and a place to rest from the crowds.

CFS members were involved in crewing the stand throughout the nine day running of the display, and also contributed to the set up and pack up of the site. Salisbury CFS members put many hours in to lay the sand and turf for the floor, and set up the display area.

Members came from the following brigades:
Aldinga Beach
Basket Range
Bridgewater
Edithburgh
Morphett Vale
Nairne
Norton Summit
Port Vincent
Salisbury
Sellicks
State Operations Support
Stirling
Tea Tree Gully

CFS Infrastructure & Logistics provided a new Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) to display alongside the tent, for comment and display to the public. SES setup a Larkin Frame on the opposite end with a rescue litter attached to show off some of the equipment utilised by the service.

CFS provided an example of the PPE used by the members, from Proban level 1, to the PBI Gold level 3 structural set with Breathing Apparatus, next to a Tyvek Splash Suit used in Hazardous Material incidents (HazMat).

The CFS Promotions Unit provided a collection of current incident photographs, depicting the role and responsibilities of CFS members. A computer with this Website was also in place, along with a powerpoint display of incident and activity pictures.
