Kersbrook Brigade
- 1963 to Present
The year was 1963 and this was the Kersbrook fire shed. The air conditioning was perfect (no doors). As crude as it may have been it didn't deter the members from rolling out to assist the community when a fire threatened. Our Second Shed 1971 saw us move into a solid Besser Brick station (with a door) No airconditioning but a loo made life easier plus a radio room and refridgerator. A slight problem in winter, we almost had to rescue ourselves. Nobody complained but we almost swapped the fire truck for a boat. Finally in 2002, Our New Station This time we have airconditioning (and doors) Plus every modern convienence. A station to be proud of. Water bombing aircraft are another responsibility of the Kersbrook Brigade. Dispatched from the Mount Crawford Airstrip, they lead a very effective attack on wildfires. Refilled with water, foam or retardent they are dispatched to the fire by our team of dedicated groundcrew. Two Of Our Earlier Appliances Kersbrook Air Support Kersbrook 14 Kersbrook 34 Our current fleet of modern appliances. Farewell To An Old Friend Built in 1979 , the old siren tower finally gave way to progress. On Sunday 27th Feb 2005 it finally laid down to rest. The tower was a Kersbrook landmark A light modern tower has taken its place at the new Kersbrook station
