Agery Brigade - 1932 to Present

This is the standared paragraph text

FIGHTING FIRES, LOCAL ORGANISATION FORMED.

With the abnormal mass of vegetation drying off in field and on the roadsides, in parklands, squares and elsewhere, it behoves everyone to be extra careful. Fires can start so easily that all possible precaution should be taken, and to effect this, organisation is necessary.

fire-fighting association of farmers of Agery and district has been formed, with the respective officers, and the Boor's Plains branch of the Agricultural Bureau has followed suit, with Mr S. G. Chynoweth as local controller. It would be well for other, similar bodies to also form organisations, for no farmer can afford to lose his crop or even part of it.

The District Council of Kadina is fully in sympathy with the movement, and has decided to appeal to farmers to co-operate with the Boor's Plains body. So far as local residents are concerned, a good deal of preventive work can be done by burning off in the vicinity of inflammable material, but notice to the fire brigade must be given before anything of the kind is attempted; the requisite number of persons, in accordance with the Act, must also be present when grass is being burned off.
