Finding the facts once the emergency is over

PC Electrical fault Once the fire has been extinguised, the cause of the fire must be investigated. All fire service officers are trained to perform routing fire investigation where the cause of the fire is obvious. Where the cause is not immediately obvious, the specialist fire investigators are called in to assist. Where loss of life has occured or the fire is suspected of being the result of a crime, the SA Police Fire Investigation Unit responds and heads the investigation to gain evidence for the state coronor or crown prosecutors.

The photographs above and below show some obvious electrical faults causing ignition and fire. You can clearly see how the fire has eminated from the electrical devices, igniting other objects and fittings, and charring the surrounding areas.
